Reaction to the 2008 Presidential Election

I was very surprised when I actually decided to spend the night of November 4th to watch politics. In the past elections it is safe to say that I was carefully avoiding any channel that was showing anything political. Politics was never and still isn’t something I enjoy but this election deemed different. For me personally I think it was the “hype” that this election brought that caught my attention as well as the attention of millions of Americans. I had a very enjoyable time watching the resulting electoral votes being awarded to each candidate from all the states. I particularly enjoyed the states that changed from red to blue, as it was very shocking that after years of voting a certain way the first African American candidate is introduced and who the people want drastically changes. The most exciting part of the night for me was when the “swing states” (especially Florida) voted Democratic. It was just the overall unexpected results of this race that interested me.

I am particularly worried for Barak Obama while he is in office. I am sort of uneasy because of the fact that our Economic state is not very good right now and America needs change. Everyone has very high standards for him especially since he is African American, to change and better the United States. He has given hope to so many Blacks and to let them down by worsening our issues would be a disaster. I just hope that as a country we are able to move forward and make it a better place for everyone. I also hope that he helps rebuild America so that we can be intact with other powerful places and climb towards the top again.
